MY PLATFORM
My Four Core Priorities as Your City Council Member for District 3
1. Truly Affordable Housing
Housing should be within reach for working New Yorkers. I believe rent should not exceed 20% of our gross income—not 30%. There’s nothing affordable about paying $3,000 a month for a studio in New York City. I’ll work to ensure developers and landlords are held accountable, and that affordable really means affordable.
2. Expanded Access to Healthcare
Healthcare is a right, not a privilege. I support expanding the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) and Medicaid for all, ensuring that every New Yorker—regardless of income or employment status—has access to quality, affordable care.
3. Food Security for All
No one should have to choose between paying rent and buying groceries. I will fight to create rent-style vouchers for grocery stores, helping lower-income residents manage rising food costs and ensuring everyone can afford nutritious meals.
4. Protecting Our Neighborhoods
I am 1000% against predatory developers who tear down our neighborhoods and displace our communities. I will champion responsible development that protects our residents, preserves our history, and strengthens our sense of place.
Additional Priorities for a Safer, Stronger, and Fairer District 3
Public Safety and Quality of Life
Crime reduction and community safety are essential. NYPD must resume proactive enforcement and arrests when laws are broken. Public safety will always be my top priority.
Safer Streets and Smarter Mobility
Balanced Use of Public Space
Outdoor dining is great—but not when it takes over our sidewalks and streets. I’ll push for clear regulations on restaurant sheds and sidewalk cafés to keep our public spaces accessible to everyone.
Stronger Park Security
Our parks should be safe and respected. I propose having the NYPD, not the Parks Department, lock up parks at night to prevent misuse and improve safety.
Reimagining Rikers Island
Transform Rikers into a treatment and rehabilitation center for those struggling with addiction and reintegration—giving people a chance to rebuild their lives rather than being recycle through the system.
A Smarter Approach to Sanitation
We need a realistic containerization ordinance and a modernized plan for trash collection that works for residents, building supers, and small businesses.
Accountability in Government
Every City Council committee should include civilian representation—to ensure real checks and balances and keep City Hall accountable to the people it serves.
Investing in Our Youth
Young adults in public housing should be able to live rent-free until age 26, allowing them to save money, build stability, and plan for their future.
Preserving What Makes Our District Unique
I’m a preservationist at heart. I will fight to protect the Elizabeth Street Garden, Tony Dapolito Center, and the Fulton and Elliott Chelsea Housing Projects, along with the landmarks and community spaces that make our neighborhoods special.
